"Will of God"

Scripture Reading:
Romans 9:15 (HCSBO)
For He tells Moses: I will show mercy to whom I show mercy,  and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.

Devotional Reading:
Have you ever wondered why you seem to always get life's leftovers?  Does it bug you that others get away with things and seem to be rewarded even when they fail?  Sometimes it comes down to a point that you just have to let go.  It is not our nature nor our will to give up.  Giving up and cashing in is not an attribute God has created within us.  It is not a spiritual gift we should seek nor desire.  Can you remember a time when you got passed over for a job?  Someone who is a bragger, slanderer, or gossip monger seems to draw more attention than you do?  Several books have been written asking the question, "why do bad things happen to good people?"  Part of this reality is those people are not as good as they seem to be.  Their hearts and minds are corrupted.  The Lord knows the heart.  He will avenge the righteous.  Another part is God uses trails, tribulation, and testings to draw us closer to Himself.  It is a divine wake-up call.  I know some of you would say it is not fair for God to tempt me, but He never tempts us.  Even in the Garden, Adam and Eve had a choice.  Judas had a choice.  Before you open your mouth to blaspheme one of the Lord's creations, you have a choice.  It is a simple choice between obedience and disobedience.  Based on your action, God will either bless you or curse you.  I must admit I have known several people who have grown up in the church and gotten lost in the church.  They get an attitude with God because things don't go there way.  While Jesus is right in the midst, they have become the ones who are lost.  Perhaps they were never truly found.

You realize you can spend your whole life being a good person and even in church every Sunday and be no closer to Jesus than the day you were born.  A mechanic who spends his life in a garage does not become a car; neither does a person who spends their whole life in church become a Christian.  Christianity is not by Osmosis, it is by confession and profession in Jesus Christ as Lord, admitting you are a sinner, believing on Jesus for Salvation and confessing your life to Christ.  The next time you feel like your in a dog eat dog world, wearing milk-bone underpants, look at the bigger picture and see what the Lord is doing to bring you closer...you probably have drifted.  Let go and let God!
