"Don't Compartmentalize Jesus"

Scripture Reading:
2 Timothy 4:2 (HCSBO)
proclaim the message; persist in it whether convenient or not; rebuke, correct, and encourage with great patience and teaching.

Devotional Reading:
Vacations make great memories.  Walks on the beach.  Shopping in the city.  Reading by the fire.  I can remember so many fond memories as a boy growing up, which all stem around vacation.  Then early in our marriage we would take vacations just the two of us and later when the children were young all of us would go.  Then as the children got older and the business' of life got more involved and hectic, we stopped taking vacations.  We need to take vacations to refresh and recharge ourselves.

Yet, as much as we need a break from our everyday routine, we never are really entitled to take a break from our witness.  In fact, our witness ought to be so much part of our personalities that we can't separate the two.  The Apostle Paul never went anywhere as a tourist.  The very first funeral service I was part of was for an older gentleman, who was know throughout the city for his witness using the 4 spiritual laws.  The funeral was huge, his family all the way down to his great grandchildren sang and instead of passing out the memorial card, the family wanted each person present to take a gospel tract (which they passed out) and give it to someone who needed to hear about Jesus.   Rocko did not live a compartmentalized life; he lived a lifestyle of Jesus Christ.  It is not something we can turn on or off like a switch, unless we are just playing church.  If you have a compartmentalized life, you are missing the zeal life has to offer, not to mention coming across to all those around you as fake.  Let your faith grow from your experiences and be free to share them, in season or not!

Keep the Son in your eyes,
Pastor Ben J Lahay
