"Going Deep"

Scripture Reading:
Mark 10:35-37 (HCSBO)
Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, approached Him and said, "Teacher, we want You to do something for us if we ask You".  "What do you want Me to do for you?" He asked them.  They answered Him, "Allow us to sit at Your right and at Your left in Your glory."

Devotional Reading:
The "sons of thunder were willing to get a leg up on the others, but were they willing to place their lives in the hands of Jesus?  I've have been called upon several times to place my life in the hands of another.  This will always bring you to the choicest spot of life; the boardwalk of life or death.  Even on the mundane level, it is hard for me to trust another person, (other than my wife) with my true hurts and feelings.  I think our tendency to compete keeps us guessing.  This is not a competition to win at all costs, but very subtle: a need to appear a bit wiser, richer, stronger or more competent than the next guy.

Have you ever stepped out on a limb?  Can you see that you are called to step out in trust again and again.  This is not a step down the block or around the corner within the confines and comfort of surroundings.  It is a step out into the deep. Does the deep scare you, you'd be surprised how many never truly answer the call of God; they cannot go DEEP!  Life is not a competition and neither is it the shallow water (comfort/familiar).  Life calls us to the deep...  Will you stop being a branch sitter and  enjoy life--be a limb climber and drink Deep of the pleasure of life! What does it say about American Christianity when we are raising a generation of wimps who can't/ won't stand for Christ?

Keep the Son in your eyes,
