"Be Real"
Scripture Reading:
Songs 8:7 (HCSBO) Mighty waters cannot extinguish love; rivers cannot sweep it away. If a man were to give all his wealth for love, it would be utterly scorned.

Biblical love cannot be bought. No amount of financial provision on our part can substitute for our responsibility to give ourselves to our wives. One way we as husbands, can fulfill our calling in marriage is to follow the instruction of Peter, "live with your wives with an understanding ..." The Greek word live means to dwell in close harmony, to be closely aligned with someone, to live together with intimacy. It's part of what I call loving your wife to kingdom authority. Many men have the idea, "I'm the guy, I do all the work, earn the money and you stay home." The problem is the home is the husbands job too! The wife's role is to be a helpmate to the husband, not to replace him, especially in the home. Home should be a place of peace. This means
to be in the home as well as in the workplace. Your wife did not marry
you for a paycheck, a car, a house or a job title; she married you for
you!
If your marriage is typical, your wife loved you when you didn't have a dime. She married you when you were just a nobody. She said, "that's the man I want to grow old with." I can guarantee you she does not want to trade realtionship or intimacy for a new car or new house. As men we have a responsibility to provide for our family, but this is so much more than a financial provision. It is a spiritual provision, an emotional provision and a physical provision. Don't let the things you do for your wife replace your presence with her. She married you to share life with you. Be the leader, be real create an atmosphere of peace and love mingled with gentleness and grace and adorn your wife with compassion!
