"Unity in Nature"

Scripture Reading:
Proverbs 30:24-28 (HCSBO) Four things on earth are small, yet they are extremely wise: the ants are not a strong people, yet they store up their food in the summer;
hyraxes are not a mighty people, yet they make their homes in the cliffs; locusts have no king, yet all of them march in ranks; a lizard can be caught in your hands,
yet it lives in kings’ palaces.

Devotion And Meditation:
God has given us all that we need to accomplish what He gives us to do. However, there are times when we feel we do not have the abilities or the strength to carry out our daily tasks. As a church, we are suffering from a betrayal.  In the midst of a flurry of activity and ministry work, we were left abandonded.  Rather than have all hands on deck, a vital officer went M.I.A., he became a deserter.  The devil laid a snare and it sprung.  So what does that mean today?  Persevere, pick up move on... In Montana it's called "cowboy up".  Knowing this, God has provided in His Word, the instruction that will help us in every area of life. The examples that He gives in this passage are extremely instructive: the ant, the hyraxes, the locusts, and the lizard.

The ant is said to be “not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer”. They do not plant or harvest, but they glean what God has  provided for them. They store, in the time of growth, what they will need when the hard winter comes. This is wisdom…. When we are young and able, do we store God’s word in our hearts, as though it were our necessary food?  The hyraxes are described as “feeble folk”. The conies have understanding…. They understand their inability to defend themselves. Like infants, they are feeble, but understanding this causes them to use what God had provided— the rocks for their houses. They build and rely upon the strength of the rock. Jesus is the Rock of our salvation. In our feebleness, do we have the understanding to rely upon Him?  “Locusts have no king”! Yet there is unity in their ranks. Lack of leadership is overcome by unity. In human beings, we can only have unity when we have love and respect for others. Sometimes our leaders will abandon the helm, seek direction elsewhere and leave us to carry on, but with unity we will overcome this lack.  Freind that is the key, we are left to carry on, those that left have no regard for us, they do not care they have moved on, but we are here and the Lord is here, “Endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Eph. 4:3). The example of Christ was humility. His sacrifice was the act of love that unites us in one body. The second of the “great commandments” is to “love our neighbor as ourselves.” Though we have one King— Jesus, it is the unity that He provides in our hearts that keeps us in rank.
