"Chasing Happiness"
Scripture Reading:
Psalm 112:1 (HCSB) Hallelujah! Happy is the man who fears the Lord, taking great delight in His commands.
Psalm 112:1 (HCSB) Hallelujah! Happy is the man who fears the Lord, taking great delight in His commands.
Devotional Reading:
This reminds me of an illustration between two cats. One day the two cats were talking when one of them asked the other one why he always chased his tail. The other cat responded "because my mom says happiness lies in your tail, so I'm trying to catch it." The other cat stated "But if you just kept walking, wouldn't it follow you?"
When happiness eludes you; when you walk with God it follows you. The Bible says "happy are those who.......delight in doing what He commands." When we focus on doing God's will, there is no unhappiness. But true happiness also involves:
1) Monitoring your self-talk! "Death and life are in the power of the tongue",
2) Being appreciative" Its virtually impossible to be gratefuland fearful at the same time. Gratefulness is an answer to fear, its also one of the purest forms of love, and
3) Exercise your options !....thinking that you have no options can leave you feeling trapped, angry and down-hearted. Butwith God you always have options for: "With God all things are possible".
Restart and re-chart your life. Happy people, truly happy ones, know that! God, I admit that sometimes I do not seek you in times of my fear and unhappiness. I fail to count upon Your promise that all things are possible, if You are in the plans and execution of my daily life. Help me to tame my tongue and take time out to appreciate others around me............for I am grateful for those who bring life, love and happiness into my path. Help me to exercise love through gratefulness, and drive unhealthy fear from my life. You are the mighty God and our Provider, and this is my prayer in Your Son's precious name....Amen.
Keep the Son in your eyes,
