"God's Counsel"

Scripture Reading:
Psalm 32:8 (HCSB)
I will instruct you and show you the way to go; with My eye on you, I will give counsel.

Devotional Reading:
Have you every had questions come to your mind that simply "come out of nowhere"? If you analyze them carefully, you may find that it is the Holy Spirit that speaks to us, counseling us by giving us those questions and statements. We must also remember that God never manipulates our minds against our will.  In every day life, we are accustomed to hearing audible words with our ears............and sometimes we may falsely presume that what God is communicating to us, we take credit as our own thinking. We must be open to hearing any warning question or statement made by the Holy Spirit. We may be inclined to ignore Him. He prompts us with insightful questions and statements so we can think through our decisions. Often times, the Holy Spirit has to convict us (cause guilty feelings) because of sin. His conviction always has the goal of moving us to a better place in our lives and a closer relationship to Him.

We are all creatures of a natural tendency to bend to our own will. I want to encourage you to think back of times in your lives when you have been convicted of wrongful thinking or having made wrong decisions in your life. Can you recall something that may have been heard or said beforehand that counseled you to another direction or decision? It could have come in the form of a thought, question or statement in your mind, or from another person. Be assured that good counsel comes from the Holy Spirit. We need to thank God daily for watching over us, and teaching us how to never miss His directions.

Ahhhhhh, if we only could go back, and take back all of the poor decisions we have made in the past. As you know, we can't physically do that, but we can confess our past transgressions, ask forgiveness, and begin fresh, anew, and more mature in Jesus Christ. What a wonderful Savior He is!
